AI customers can be ready to pay and still get stuck at checkout. Shawn Yu, a ROZO co-founder writing for Forbes Technology Council, argues that platforms should distinguish an issuer decline from a platform block or a technical error, so customers and support teams know what to do next.
Why it mattersYu also recommends tracking returning customers separately, testing payment options across countries and card types, and offering a suitable route for people without a supported card. His examples come from complaints he says he has encountered, not an industry-wide survey, so they do not establish how often payments fail. One useful detail for buyers: show the credit amount, fees, tax and total before payment. An advertised model price is not necessarily the amount that appears on the card statement.
Discuss: When a payment fails, should AI platforms explain the likely cause and offer another way to pay, or is that too much information to expose?
