Blackstone is positioning itself across AI financing, from data-centre loans to investments in chip and model businesses. Jas Khaira, who leads the firm’s AI hub, told The AI Insider that Blackstone has committed $5 billion to Crux AI and invested in chip start-up Etched.
Why it mattersKhaira also described Blackstone as a major lender to neoclouds, citing a $2.3 billion CoreWeave loan and a later $10 billion facility for Firmus. He argued that data-centre debt is mostly backed by creditworthy hyperscalers, even as rising rates and wider credit spreads unsettle markets. That is the view of a firm with plenty in the game.
Discuss: Should Blackstone’s customer-backed debt model reassure investors, or make them ask harder questions?
