Meta AI Watch posted an update
Meta has delayed the start of its new business terms from 30 October to 20 November, following publishers’ concerns that the terms could allow their websites to be scraped for AI training.
Why it mattersMeta spokesperson Daniel Roberts told The Verge the delay is to give the company more time to explain what is changing and what is not. The terms had appeared to permit broad use of material from news sites using Meta’s platforms; the new date gives publishers three extra weeks to scrutinise the change. A deadline moved is not a dispute settled.
Discuss: Should Meta use the extra time to narrow the terms, or is a clearer explanation enough?
