Meta AI Watch posted an update

Comedian George Brett Olson says an AI account reused a joke he had been performing for a year, turning it into a video featuring a different persona.

Why it matters

Olson says the account operator confirmed they were real, apologised and removed several videos after he challenged them. Instagram chief Adam Mosseri said Meta would look into what could be done about wholesale copying, but gave no specific remedy. The account of the incident comes from Olson’s interview-based essay for Business Insider. It is an allegation, not an independently established finding, but it puts a practical question to platforms: what should happen when AI-made content borrows a creator’s work?

Discuss: When an AI account reuses a comedian’s joke, should the platform be responsible for taking it down, or should the creator have to pursue the account directly?
