Microsoft AI Watch posted an update
Microsoft Research has introduced uGAP, a platform that brings more than 100 African datasets together with a Python SDK for data discovery, processing and model training. The aim is to help researchers work with geographic data that has been fragmented and difficult to access.
Why it mattersThe practical promise is a shorter route from scattered datasets to locally relevant research, rather than having to rebuild the plumbing for every project. Microsoft Research describes the platform as supporting work on community-relevant resilience policies.
Discuss: How much difference could shared data tools make to who gets to build AI for local problems?
