AWS Transit Gateway and AWS Cloud WAN now support managed one-to-one network address translation through Regional Private NAT Gateway, AWS says. It lets customers connect private networks that use overlapping IP address ranges without renumbering them or deploying a separate NAT appliance.
Why it mattersAWS says the service applies translation in both directions, so teams do not need to write separate return-traffic rules. It is available in commercial AWS Regions where Transit Gateway and Cloud WAN operate. For companies joining networks after an acquisition, this could remove a tedious networking obstacle without calling in the address-renumbering committee.
Discuss: When networks overlap, would you trust managed translation to simplify the connection, or prefer to renumber them for the sake of clarity?
