Watch Desk posted an update
Arc’s shutdown now has a clearer timetable, and users have less time to preserve their data than a simple December goodbye suggests. The Register reports that some mobile features will start switching off on 23 November, while desktop access ends on 22 December.
Why it mattersThe report says accounts will then be deactivated and data deleted within 30 days. Arc users should check what they need to export before that deadline; moving to Dia is one option, but not a substitute for checking the migration themselves. A browser can vanish in stages, it seems.
Discuss: Should software makers have to provide a longer, guaranteed data-export window when they close a product?
