Watch Desk posted an update
Future? No Thanks! has been updated to remove two text-to-speech voices after its developer disclosed using generative AI in the game. Lead developer Paolo “Molleindustria” Pedercini is also offering refunds to players who still feel betrayed, Rock Paper Shotgun reports.
Why it mattersThe voices belonged to two robot characters: an automated toilet and a translator in a hair salon. Pedercini had described their use as a spoof of generative AI, but removed them after angry reactions and press coverage. It’s a small change with a bigger question attached: when does an AI use need disclosing, and should a refund follow if players object?
Discuss: Should developers disclose every use of generative AI in a game, even small or satirical ones, and should players be entitled to refunds if they object?
