AI can help developers produce code faster, but it will not fix a muddled software process on its own. Sonatafy Technology chief executive Steve Taplin argues that teams should first agree what they are trying to improve, who owns the outcome and how they will measure whether the work helped.
Why it mattersTaplin says his company widened teams’ ability to build, test and deploy without waiting on a small group, and tightened the hand-off between product and engineering so ideas were better vetted before development. He presents those changes as lessons from his own business, not a universal formula. The useful reminder: more code is not the same as better software. Before adding people or AI tools, can a team name the outcome it owns and the measure that would prove it got there?
Discuss: Should software teams name one person accountable for each outcome, or does individual ownership risk undermining shared responsibility?
