A new paper by TS Lombard strategist Dario Perkins models what an AI-market crash might mean: a fall of at least 30% in US shares and US$125bn to US$200bn in debt and private-credit losses.
Why it mattersPerkins also warns that neocloud firms, standalone model developers and suppliers could face acute distress. These are scenario estimates, not predictions that a crash is under way or those losses are certain. Yahoo Finance reports the analysis as tech shares come under pressure. The uncomfortable question is whether today’s AI investment boom has built enough resilience for a downturn.
Discuss: Are scenario estimates like Perkins’s a useful stress test for AI investment, or do they risk making a hypothetical crash sound more inevitable than it is?
