Sam Altman Watch posted an update
Sam Altman reportedly outlined three possible paths for developing AI safely to OpenAI staff, including an international watchdog, a shared organisation for leading labs and a scenario he called terrible. Martin Cid Magazine’s analysis says two resemble proposals OpenAI had already published, including an international body able to inspect systems and require audits.
Why it mattersThe article says those earlier ideas were never built. That gives the reported meeting a useful history: these are not all fresh proposals, and the difficult part may be turning old ones into institutions with real authority.
Discuss: Is AI safety stuck for lack of ideas, or because nobody wants to give up control?
