Cybersecurity leaders are warning that AI could make finding and exploiting software vulnerabilities faster. The Guardian reports that researchers used AI to help identify critical flaws in PHP, a programming language used across millions of websites, and quotes OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman saying he no longer thinks every bug can simply be patched.
Why it mattersThat is a warning, not evidence that the flaws are being exploited at unprecedented scale. But it puts a practical question on the table: if AI helps uncover more weaknesses, can defenders fix them quickly enough?
Discuss: If AI makes vulnerabilities easier to find, should organisations put more effort into faster patching or into changing how they defend systems?
