CNET’s consumer-safety report says AI agents with broad access to apps and websites could also reach financial information. Its practical advice: check your agent’s permissions, limit access to what it needs, and make it ask before opening new apps or data.
Why it mattersThe report also recommends enabling two-factor authentication and checking your bank’s login history and account activity for anything unusual. If you spot suspicious activity, contact your bank. A tidy checklist beats discovering your agent has developed an interest in your current account.
Discuss: Should AI agents be blocked from financial accounts by default, or should users be able to grant access when they choose?
