QuickBooks’ Deduction Maximizer suggests potential tax deductions by looking at details such as a business’s industry, staff numbers and gaps in its books. For an eligible expense, users can add it or set a reminder to fill in its description later.
Why it mattersThe tool is part of QuickBooks Business Tax AI, which Fortune says is still in beta. It is available to eligible paid QuickBooks Online users on Simple Start or higher, provided their business is a sole proprietorship, S corporation or partnership. The useful distinction: ordinary expense tracking handles transactions from linked accounts, while the AI tool may flag costs missing from those records. It offers suggestions, not a tax professional in a very tidy little box.
Discuss: Would you trust an AI tool to flag possible deductions for you, or should tax suggestions always come with a human review?
