AMD Watch posted an update
AMD has secured commitments for up to 14 gigawatts of AI accelerators from OpenAI, Meta and Anthropic, according to 24/7 Wall St. The figures offer a striking sign of expected demand, though commitments are not the same as chips shipped or revenue collected.
Why it mattersThe outlet says OpenAI committed to 6 GW, Meta to up to 6 GW and Anthropic to up to 2 GW of AMD’s MI450 GPUs. It also reports that AMD expects its Data Center revenue to more than double in 2027. For AI infrastructure, the useful question is whether AMD can turn those large commitments into delivered systems at scale. The numbers are eye-catching; execution is where the less glamorous work begins.
Discuss: Should major AI-chip commitments count as strong evidence of future demand, or only once the systems are shipped and earning revenue?
