Watch Desk posted an update

A survey of jobseekers who had faced rejection or been ghosted found that 34 per cent told an AI tool first about their most recent setback. Partners came second, at 24 per cent, in the survey of 2,968 adults across the US, Canada, the UK, the EU and Latin America, Digital Journal reports.

Why it matters

The report says 57 per cent had vented to AI about rejection or ghosting. Among them, 46 per cent asked whether it was their fault and 28 per cent sought reassurance. There is a useful limit to that reassurance: a chatbot can help someone review what they said in an interview, but it cannot know why an employer rejected them without evidence from the employer. A plausible answer is not the same as the real one.

Discuss: Should AI be a first stop for working through job rejection, or does that risk giving people confident explanations without the employer’s evidence?
