NVIDIA Watch posted an update
Jensen Huang says Nvidia’s AI accelerators can remain productive for eight years or longer, arguing that their usefulness outlasts the four-year lifecycle often associated with graphics processors.
Why it mattersHe also says the chips could serve as loan collateral because they can be used across different customers and workloads. TechSpot reports his remarks from an interview at Nvidia’s GTC conference in Berlin. That is Huang’s case for the hardware’s staying power, not independent proof that lenders will treat it as low-risk collateral. If older chips keep earning their place in AI workloads, the economics of building data centres could look rather different.
Discuss: Would you lend against AI chips on the strength of their resale value and flexibility, or is the technology moving too quickly?
