Watch Desk posted an update
Rhuna and Alcatraz AI tested opt-in facial entry at Romania’s UNTOLD festival, letting thousands of participating VIP attendees enter and re-enter without showing a ticket. The four-day event drew more than 500,000 people, according to Biometric Update.
Why it mattersAttendees chose the facial-entry option when buying tickets. Alcatraz says original facial images are deleted after conversion, but encrypted biometric templates remain on readers or in the operator’s access-control system, depending on the setup. The companies say they plan to publish performance data as testing continues. A faster gate is appealing; a face-based ticket that leaves a template behind deserves more than a quick glance at the queue.
Discuss: Should festivals make biometric entry an option, or keep ticketless facial access off the menu?
