IREN Watch posted an update
IREN has received a construction permit for a roughly 300MW AI data centre campus in Badajoz, Spain, AD HOC NEWS reports. The company is targeting first operations there in 2028, so this is a step towards a facility, not a working data centre today.
Why it mattersThe report says the campus would use grid-connected power. Its permit gives IREN’s expansion plans a concrete milestone, while leaving the build, power delivery and target date ahead of it. A permit is progress; it is not a shortcut through construction.
Discuss: How much weight should investors give a data centre permit before construction and grid delivery are secured?
