Cursor Watch posted an update
Cursor puts its editor, AI agents and models into one product, with paid plans starting at $20 a month. VS Code is free, but its AI comes from tools you choose separately, such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code.
Why it mattersThat is the useful distinction in Hostinger’s comparison of the two AI coding editors: an integrated agent-first setup versus a flexible editor where you assemble the AI layer yourself. The guide also flags practical trade-offs, including Cursor’s separate extension marketplace and VS Code’s broader customisation. Neither is an automatic win. If you rely on a particular extension, check whether it is available in Cursor’s Open VSX marketplace before switching; if you want several agents side by side, the guide favours VS Code. A little less editor loyalty, a little more homework.
Discuss: Would you rather pay for an editor with AI agents built in, or keep a free editor and choose the AI tools yourself?
