Roland has entered generative AI music with Melody Flip, a plug-in that creates melodies, chord progressions, basslines and drum parts for use in a digital audio workstation. It is designed as a creative starting point rather than a one-click hit factory, with around 250 genre-based Palettes and controls for tempo, key and note density.
Why it mattersThe practical appeal is straightforward: export the MIDI and shape it yourself. Whether musicians want that particular robot in the room is another question.
Discuss: Would you use an AI tool that generates editable musical ideas, or does the creative friction matter more than the convenience?
