An engineer has trained a 360-million-parameter language model to simulate a terminal, running locally in a browser through WebGPU. The model predicts screen changes rather than ordinary text, and the account says it can handle tools such as vim and tmux.
Why it mattersThere’s a useful catch: it has no real shell or filesystem. This is a compact AI demonstration, not a miniature command line ready to manage your files.
Discuss: Would you find a convincing terminal simulation useful for testing and teaching, or does the lack of a real shell make it mostly a clever demo?
