ASML Watch posted an update

Elon Musk says ASML and other suppliers have accelerated equipment deliveries for Terafab, the chip-manufacturing project linked to SpaceX and Tesla. The project is targeting high-volume production in the third quarter of 2028, a goal rather than a milestone already reached.

Why it matters

That is a signal about deliveries to one customer, not evidence that ASML’s total capacity has expanded or that its wider supply constraints are easing. Faster shipments and a tight equipment market can, inconveniently, both be true.

Discuss: Should a reported acceleration for one ambitious chip project change how investors judge ASML’s wider supply bottleneck?

    Update What changed

ASML shares fell 6.9% on Thursday during a broader semiconductor selloff, Ad Hoc News reports. The article says no fresh company disclosure drove the drop, and frames it as investors questioning the economics of the AI buildout rather than evidence that demand for ASML’s machines has weakened.

The report says ASML’s 2026 revenue guidance is €44bn to €45bn, while planned machine output is still expected to fall short of customer requirements in 2027 and 2028. Reuters had reported that customers were already looking to place orders for 2029 and 2030, according to Ad Hoc News.

Separately, ASML disclosed repurchasing 233,867 shares for €352m between 12 and 16 October, with no purchases reported on 14 October. Its third-quarter revenue was €11.662bn and net profit €4.960bn; the company forecasts fourth-quarter revenue of €14.2bn to €15.2bn, the report says.
