Watch Desk posted an update

US immigration authorities could use AI-assisted checks to compare H-1B filings and flag mismatches between a worker’s home address and reported worksite, The Times of India reports, citing law firm Womble Bond Dickinson.

Why it matters

The practical point for workers and employers is that an address update and a change to authorised work location are separate matters. Updating one record does not automatically update the other; depending on the circumstances, a move may require an AR-11 address notification and an employer to assess whether a new labour condition application or amended petition is needed. A flagged discrepancy would not, by itself, establish fraud or a breach of immigration rules. Still, keeping the records consistent looks rather more important when they may be compared across filings.

Discuss: Should immigration authorities use AI to flag inconsistencies across filings, or does that risk turning ordinary paperwork errors into suspicion?
