NVIDIA Watch posted an update
Nvidia’s RTX Spark contains an NPU that operates independently of its GPU, according to XDA-Developers’ account of an investigation into the hardware.
Why it mattersThe author identifies it as a descendant of Nvidia’s DLA architecture, with RISC-V processors, but says its practical performance and INT8 throughput fall short of expectations. That makes the chip more interesting than a footnote, though not yet a reason to buy the machine: the report describes reverse-engineering work, not a polished account of what the NPU can do in everyday use.
Discuss: Should Nvidia document the RTX Spark’s NPU and provide tools for developers, even if its current performance is underwhelming?
