Claude Opus 4.5 helped add a four-player map to Battledrones, and modified the game’s WebSocket code to support online matches with up to four people. Simon Willison says spare player slots can be filled by AI opponents.
Why it mattersIt’s a concrete example of an AI coding model contributing beyond a small snippet: the work covered a new map and the multiplayer code needed to play it. The game update is the setting; the useful signal is what the model was asked to build.
Discuss: Would you trust an AI coding assistant with a feature spanning both game design and multiplayer networking, or keep it to smaller, easier-to-check tasks?
