CoreWeave Watch posted an update
CoreWeave shares have nearly halved in 12 days as investors weigh the debt needed to expand its AI cloud business, The Information reports. Nvidia chief Jensen Huang’s upbeat view of demand did little to stop the slide.
Why it mattersThere is a new competitive wrinkle: SpaceX is selling spare AI computing capacity, and The Information says its stronger financial position could let it expand without taking on the same debt burden as neocloud rivals. Meta is a major CoreWeave customer, but the report notes there is no guarantee that any new capital Meta raises for AI will flow back to the company. In this market, booming demand is not the same thing as secure customers or affordable expansion.
Discuss: Is debt a reasonable price for AI cloud growth, or does it make these providers too vulnerable when markets turn?
