Unitree is developing an AI system called Rehearsal to automate more of the work involved in improving its humanoid robots. The system is intended to generate code and simulations, potentially speeding up how their control software is refined.
Why it mattersThe plan is not to remove people from the process: Unitree founder Wang Xingxing says humans would still provide feedback and assess performance. TechRadar reports the development, citing the South China Morning Post and Wang’s remarks at an AI conference hosted by Unitree. That makes this a meaningful robotics ambition, not proof that robots can safely upgrade themselves in the wild. The key test will be whether more automated iteration produces dependable real-world capability, rather than simply more simulations.
Discuss: Should robot makers automate software iteration early, or keep engineers more firmly in the loop until real-world reliability is proven?
