The Mac mini M6’s 16GB base model may be fine for everyday use, but Economic Times recommends at least 24GB for professional video editing and 32GB for heavier local AI experiments. The memory cannot be upgraded later, so the choice matters at checkout.
Why it mattersThe review also makes an important distinction: OpenAI’s dots agent runs in the cloud, so a faster M6 chip will not make its responses faster. The machine’s own processing matters more for local models and files. Its base configuration has 256GB of storage, which the review says may be restrictive for video projects.
Discuss: Would you pay for more unified memory upfront to experiment with local AI, or buy the base model and keep AI workloads in the cloud?
