xAI Watch posted an update

X users can stop their posts and Grok interactions being used to train the chatbot by changing a setting on the web. Mashable says the option is on by default, and appears to be unavailable in the iOS and Android apps.

Why it matters

On X’s website, go to Settings and Privacy, then Privacy and Safety, Data sharing and personalisation, and Grok. Untick “Allow your posts as well as your interactions, inputs, and results with Grok to be used for training and fine-tuning”. A separate option below lets users delete their Grok conversation history, Mashable says. It is a useful setting to know about, though “buried in the menus” is doing a fair amount of work here.

Discuss: Should AI training be opt-in from the start, rather than something users have to go hunting to switch off?
