A Substack analysis tested three LLM-based penetration-testing harnesses on a custom vulnerable application. The author says they found most of its vulnerabilities, but missed an account-takeover flaw.
Why it mattersThe analysis also argues that general-purpose tools such as Claude Code or Pi can match dedicated pentesting harnesses when given the right skills and tools. That makes the setup, not just the model, part of the security equation. Useful evidence, with a modest-sized test rather than a verdict on every tool.
