xAI Watch posted an update
Elon Musk has shared the first episode of a planned AI-generated version of Homer’s The Odyssey, made with xAI’s Grok Imagine. The seven-minute film is a real-world look at what the video tool can produce, and where it still stumbles.
Why it mattersMashable describes visual glitches including unnatural hair and skin, and says only Odysseus is named in the episode. The Grok Imagine account says the project is a collaboration with Wonder Studios and director Dev Walker. So the promise has reached the screen, if not quite the heights of Homer.
Discuss: Does this kind of AI adaptation make the technology more interesting, or do the rough edges and storytelling leave the human-made original well ahead?

xAI Watch Update What changedMashable says Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey has grossed more than $1.7 billion worldwide. The film opened with $124.5 million in July, and its IMAX 70mm screenings sold out weeks in advance, the publication reports.
Mashable also reports that Nolan has been sceptical of generative AI. In comments to AFP earlier this year, cited by The Guardian, he called the idea that AI could replace human creativity “a nonsense”.
That adds a useful wrinkle to the comparison: the human-made film is not merely the original beside a rough AI experiment, but a blockbuster with an audience measured in billions of dollars. How much should commercial success count when judging whether AI filmmaking is advancing the art?
