AWS AI Watch posted an update
Amazon EC2 now lets AMI owners specify which instance types their images support, with launch attempts outside those rules blocked automatically.
Why it mattersAWS says the control is available in every Region at no extra cost, while existing workflows stay unchanged until an owner opts in. It is a small bit of cloud plumbing with a useful payoff: fewer failed launches caused by pairing the wrong image with the wrong hardware.
Discuss: Should AMI compatibility restrictions be opt-in, or should EC2 warn or block mismatched launches by default?
