NVIDIA Watch posted an update
Hugging Face’s $399 Microduck desk robot has reportedly attracted more than 20,000 pre-orders after Jensen Huang demonstrated it at GTC Berlin. BigGo Finance says the total is cumulative since orders opened in August, and notes the figure comes from a projection by Hugging Face chief Clem Delangue. These are advance orders, not ducks already waddling to customers.
Why it mattersThere’s an AI story beneath the viral somersaults: BigGo says the robot’s movements are trained using Nvidia’s technology, including simulation across 4,096 virtual environments on a Blackwell GPU. The device ships with seven trained behaviours, and owners can teach it more.
Discuss: Would you pay $399 for a robot with seven trained tricks and room to learn more, or should small robots prove they can do something useful before the novelty wears off?
