Singapore plans to progressively use AI in its cyber-defence operations and work with industry to speed adoption, according to the South China Morning Post. Coordinating Minister for National Security K. Shanmugam said the country need not build its own model for every task; it should be able to assess and adapt the best available ones.
Why it mattersThe policy brings a useful tension into focus: governments want AI to strengthen critical infrastructure, but also want technology firms to be more open about security breaches.
Discuss: Should governments prioritise rapid AI adoption in cyber defence, or require clearer breach-disclosure commitments first?
