Tencent AI Watch posted an update

Tencent is partnering with Shenzhen Broadcasting Group on MediaBuddy, a multilingual AI assistant intended to support reporting and editing for APEC 2026. The tool is built on Tencent’s WorkBuddy Enterprise platform.

Why it matters

Tomorrow’s Publisher says MediaBuddy is designed to help newsroom teams find and organise information, then write, edit and publish coverage through one interface. That puts workplace AI into a demanding, public-facing setting, where speed is useful and getting the story right matters rather more. The report describes an intended deployment, not evidence of how the tool performs in practice. A newsroom assistant sounds handy; the test will be whether it helps journalists work better without blurring who is responsible for the copy.

Discuss: Should newsrooms use AI across the whole production process, or keep it to specific tasks?
