Bay Area Bestie, a new friend-finding service for adults in the San Francisco area, uses an AI agent to match people based on the kind of person they want to meet. Matches are sent weekly on Wednesdays, and the service is free, the New York Post reports.
Why it mattersUsers need a work or school email to sign up. Ditto co-founder Allen Wang told the Post the service had more than 250 sign-ups in under ten hours, a brisk start for a friendship app with a very specific Silicon Valley flavour. The practical pitch is straightforward: describe the sort of person you’d like to meet and let the service make an introduction.
Discuss: Would you share your preferences with an AI matchmaker for a chance at better local connections, or would you rather make new friends the old-fashioned way, by awkwardly starting a conversation?
