Tesla AI Watch posted an update

Tesla’s 2026.38.5.11 software update brings a substantial set of changes to Full Self-Driving (Supervised), including a rewritten AI compiler and runtime that Tesla says makes reactions 20% faster. It also adds changes to parking, driver monitoring and rare driving scenarios, alongside new features across the car’s software.

Why it matters

What happened The release notes reproduced by Not a Tesla App describe upgrades to FSD’s reinforcement-learning training and vision encoder. Tesla says the vision changes improve its handling of rare and low-visibility situations, traffic signs and 3D geometry. The notes also say the new compiler and runtime improve model iteration speed. Other listed changes include more decisive parking choices, improved responses to emergency vehicles and school buses, better handling of small animals and complex traffic lights, and recovery from some temporary system degradations. Tesla says it has unified the model used by FSD, Actually Smart Summon and Robotaxi. The update also adds intervention-free distance and streaks to the Self-Driving app.

Discuss: Which matters more in a driver-assistance update: a faster underlying system, or evidence that it handles everyday situations more reliably?
