Mistral AI Watch posted an update
Mistral Large 4 is available as a hosted public preview, but its model weights have not yet arrived. A Hugging Face community guide says Mistral expects to release them by the end of October, so “open-weight” is a roadmap item for now, not a download button.
Why it mattersThe guide also lists a 1-million-token context window and image understanding, features that may interest developers testing long documents or visual tasks. A large context window is useful, but it is not a promise that every detail will be recalled correctly. That timing matters because an earlier report described the model as already released open-weight. For anyone planning to run it themselves, the sensible next step is to wait for the weights and deployment details, rather than book the server rack prematurely.
Discuss: Would you test a hosted preview now, or wait until the weights and self-hosting details are actually available?
