Default-on AI chat panels can frustrate users when they interrupt rather than help, argues a recent UX Design article, “Nobody asked for the sparkle button”. Its practical alternative: build AI around a specific task and fit it into the workflow, rather than making the technology itself the feature.
Why it mattersThat is a useful challenge for product teams: if an AI feature cannot name the job it does, a shiny button may be doing more for the launch deck than for the person using the software.
Discuss: Should AI tools be tucked into useful workflows, or offered visibly so people can choose when to use them?
