A developer used Claude to build free alternatives to Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and a MakeUseOf reviewer says the early results are surprisingly usable for everyday work.
Why it mattersMahnoor Faisal found WordCraft smooth for personal assignments, but noted reported problems with saving, formatting and footnotes. GridCraft handled ordinary spreadsheets, though it lacks VBA and Power Query support; DeckCraft opens PowerPoint files but offers only six templates. These are early-stage apps, not drop-in Office replacements. Still, AI-assisted coding is turning into software people can actually try, not just another impressive demo.
