JFrog researchers say a memory-corruption flaw in Google’s Brotli decoder, tracked as CVE-2026-111497, can affect more than HTTP clients and servers.
Why it mattersTheir report names file-processing paths and integrations including FFmpeg handling JPEG XL images, the .NET runtime and Apache Arrow. They say Brotli 1.2.1 contains a fix, but adoption varies across downstream projects. That makes checking which Brotli versions your software actually uses more useful than assuming the issue stops at the web server.
Discuss: How should maintainers prioritise a fix when a shared library can be pulled in through less obvious routes?
