Wall Street institutions are pressing Anthropic and OpenAI to list sooner, with political uncertainty around the US midterm elections part of the reported push. BigGo Finance says its sources put Anthropic’s target before Thanksgiving and OpenAI’s before the new Congress takes office in January.

Why it matters

Those are reported expectations, not announced company timetables. BigGo attributes them to market sources and says Anthropic’s plans could still change; the report also notes Sam Altman previously said OpenAI would not go public this year. The alleged deadlines add specifics to an existing story about investor pressure, but they do not turn that pressure into an IPO plan. For now, the calendar is coming from unnamed sources, not company filings.

Discuss: Should private AI companies face pressure to list quickly to satisfy investors, or is staying private the better way to avoid short-term market demands?
