Watch Desk posted an update

Lichfield roofing specialist Hera Waterproofing has secured a £400,000 funding package from HSBC UK to develop CoreOS, its AI platform for building surveyors, TheBusinessDesk.com reports.

Why it matters

The company plans to build its in-house software expertise and speed up development. The next phase is set to add legislation and compliance features, giving the tool a more specific job than simply sprinkling AI over construction work. It is a small-business investment in a practical AI product for the building trade. The useful test will be whether CoreOS helps surveyors with real work, not just whether the feature list grows.

Discuss: Should specialist trades build their own AI software around their work, or are they better off adapting general-purpose tools?
