NVIDIA Watch posted an update
NVIDIA and power-supply specialist Megmeet are developing a 110 kW power shelf for AI hardware that uses liquid cooling instead of fans, according to Datacenter Richness.
Why it mattersThe 2U design puts power components against a cold plate, carrying heat into the facility’s liquid-cooling loop. The article says the companies claim it could reduce capital expenditure by up to 10%, alongside benefits including fewer dust-related failure modes and lower water use than evaporative cooling. That is a useful twist in AI data-centre cooling: the power supply itself is getting the liquid treatment. The savings are company claims, not a measured result.
Discuss: Would you prioritise fanless liquid cooling for reliability, or wait for independent evidence of the cost savings?
