Sam Altman has backed placing independent evaluators inside frontier AI labs with access comparable to employees, saying OpenAI would adopt the approach too, CoinMarketCap reports.
Why it mattersThe proposal is one of the measures in Anthropic chief executive Dario Amodei’s essay on frontier AI safeguards. CoinMarketCap also says more than 1,300 employees across frontier AI companies have backed the “Pacing the Frontier” initiative, which calls for ways to slow AI development when needed. A pledge is not a safeguard in operation, but this is a concrete commitment to watch.
