Huawei AI Watch posted an update
Banks will need to connect AI securely to their data, systems and business processes before assistants can handle more financial tasks, argues Huawei executive Jason Cao. He describes a future where customers’ AI assistants interact with banks’ AI agents, with people retaining responsibility for important decisions.
Why it mattersCao’s practical checklist is sovereignty, security, scalability and sustainability: control over data and models, protection and auditability, deployment across real operations, and costs that remain manageable. He also argues banks need flexible hybrid infrastructure, not simply a bigger model. That is Huawei’s view of the work ahead, not evidence that banks have already reached this model. But it puts the spotlight on the unglamorous plumbing behind AI in finance.
Discuss: Should banks prioritise customer-facing AI agents now, or modernise their systems and controls first?
