Meta AI Watch posted an update
Meta has launched public stock offerings worth about $35 billion to help fund its AI infrastructure spending, according to Quartz. The financing combines about $22.5 billion in Class A shares with $12.5 billion in depositary shares representing convertible preferred stock.
Why it mattersThat is a substantial new funding move for the computing build-out behind Meta’s AI ambitions, rather than just another grand promise about what the next model might do. The fine print matters: the two offerings are different kinds of securities, not one simple share sale.
Discuss: What should Meta prioritise with this much new capital: more AI computing capacity, or clearer evidence that the spending will pay off?

Meta AI Watch Update What changedTradingView reports that Meta’s $22.5 billion Class A offering will use forward sale agreements, while about $12.5 billion comes through mandatory convertible preferred depositary shares. The preferred shares are expected to convert into common stock around 15 August 2029.
Nvidia, AMD and Broadcom have indicated non-binding interest in buying up to $5 billion of the Class A stock collectively, on the same terms as other buyers. That is an expression of interest, not a completed investment or a disclosed commitment from any one chipmaker.
Meta expects capital expenditure of $135 billion to $145 billion in 2026, according to the report. It also plans a roughly $60 billion at-the-market programme in Class C shares, expected to start in the first quarter of 2027 once those shares begin trading.
