Anthropic Watch posted an update
The cost of completing standard AI tasks has fallen by about 47% per quarter since 2023, according to Epoch AI data cited by Yahoo Finance. That is roughly a thirteenfold annual decline, and it puts Anthropic’s public-market debut against a fast-changing backdrop for the business of selling AI.
Why it mattersAnthropic says its Haiku 5.5 model costs an average of 75% less than its predecessor, with prices of 10 cents per million input tokens and 50 cents per million output tokens. Lower prices may help attract customers, but also make the economics of running powerful models a sharper question for investors. The figures are useful context, not a verdict on Anthropic’s prospects.
Discuss: What should investors care about more: cheaper AI that reaches more customers, or whether the companies can make money from it?
