Cybersecurity teams could generate data from plausible attacks they have not yet encountered, then use it to train security AI and prepare analysts. Lee Rossey, CTO of SimSpace, argues that varying an attack’s timing and sequence can also expose gaps that historical data may miss.
Why it mattersIt is a practical proposal, not evidence that this approach has been proven to improve defences. Rossey makes the case in a Forbes Technology Council essay. The useful shift is from waiting for an attack to leave a trace to rehearsing plausible scenarios first.
Discuss: Should security teams spend more effort generating and testing synthetic attack scenarios, or is real-world data still the sounder basis for training defensive AI?
